Tractor Gone Wild

Puppy food versus all life stages?
Hey everyone,
I'm getting a puppy in July. I'm not sure it matters, but she's a bull terrier.
Anyway, the breeder feeds her dogs Diamond. However, I don't think I've seen any Diamond around here. Someone suggested I go to a tractor supply store (but it's a big drive) and there is one place here in town that can order it, but that may be a hassle.
Besides, I have been doing some looking around online for dog food, and I've narrowed it down to Acana and Taste of the Wild. But TotW is an "All Life Stages" food and I think Acana may only be adult.
So the question is....what are your personal favorites for puppy food? Is a "puppy" type food necessary or is it just a marketing ploy? I know I can Google this or ask a vet, but I want some personal opinions and my vet would probably suggest Science Diet...which is a NO.
Acana and TOTW are both fine, don't bother feeding puppy food. Too many calories equals too fast of growth, which isn't good for skeletal growth.
