Stay Fit At Work
Some of use keep up expensive memberships of gyms we visit rarely if at all. Going to the gym can be a bit of a bore and whilst we're doing it then, unless you're doing a language course, the odds are that you're not getting anything else from it. It's not that difficult to exercise without the gym subscription. This is what I do to try to stay fit:
1) Don't use the car for neighbourhood journeys. A mile is a good cut off point beyond which you can take a car, but, if circumstances permit, a journey to the local shop or neighbourhood bar should not need a car. It also definitively overcomes the drink-driving dilemma.
2) Part further away from your destination. Don't be lazy and park right outside the convenience store or your work. If other factors like crime and poor weather don't prevent it, park further away.
3) Keep moving. If you can move around whilst working, do so. Just standing up burns more calories than sitting and can even be done whilst eating. If at all possible, try to move around on your breaks.
4) A dog is simply the best aid to fitness ever invented. A dog will get you outdoors in all weathers, will enable you to meet people and deters attackers.
5) Invest in a Wii. Yes, you'll look stupid, but it's a hell of a lot of fun and who is watching you anyway?.
6) Dance is great exercise. Polish up your moves as you move from room to room. Yes, you'll look a complete wally, but if you live with your wife of parther they'll love it and will want to join in too.
7) Try to do without social networking software - prefereably indefinitely. It's the worst thing to happen since TV was invented. It's unrealistic to expect anyone to give up, but try cutting back - perhaps checking Facebook four times a day rather than every ten minutes. There are doubtless people who really annoy you but who insisted on becoming friends. This is a great opportunity to make a resolution not to read their posts and to go and do something beneficial instead.
Ration your TV viewing and, if you have to watch TV, watch it standing up.
9) Carry more weight on your walks. A rucksack full of weights will add greatly to the calories you burn. Lead shot filled diving weights are an excellent alternative, but gravel or sand will also serve well.
10) Give yourself a regular colon cleansing with a cleanser like Bowtrol. It will revitalise you and rid your intestines of pathogens and toxins.
11) Take your children outside and play with them. You probably do this already, but a little more play really wouldn't hurt them.
12) Take the stairs rather than the lift/elevator. Even climbing a few flights of stairs will burn a significant number of calories.
13) Give your house a thorough clean. Your relationship will benefit and you will earn brownie points you can trade in for who knows what!.
14) Take up gardening. Gardening burns a ridiculous number of calories - especially if you avoid ride-on lawnmowers and garden tractors. Even by getting you away from the TV and Facebook it will do you good.
15) Call your friends now and get them to agree to do some sports together. If you possibly can, put a team together as this will make you meet regularly and do sports.
