im buying my first lawn tractor, any tips?
somebody recommanded honda-bridgestone-craftman-moray

but im lost in the specifications... i need more tips about the motor, powerhorse, essential accesories, blades.
help me please

I am just like you, only difference is I have compared riding tractors/mowers every time I buy one for the last 20 yrs. I usually buy a garden tractor/mower, because I mow about 4 acres.
I always want the following:
*Kohler engine
*Pressurized oil system with oil filter
*Cast Iron front axle
*Hydrostatic Transmission
*Minimum 50" deck * I now have 54" deck
I shop all the prices and the last 3 times I've bought a mower it has been a
Craftsman from Sears.
This last time I waited until the newer mowers came out and made an offer on last years model. I ask for the dept manager in Lawn & Garden. Retail price was $3295.
It was marked down $800 to $2495. I watched it sit out front for 2 more weeks. I finally made an offer of $1995. The manager told me if I would also purchase the 3 yr. maintenance agreement for $395. it was a deal. * I always get the maintenance agreement anyway - which he did not know, so it was a good deal.
Even at $2495.00 it was a good deal.
I compared them all for features and price. I mean all of them. Toro,John Deere,Cub Cadet,Snapper - The main problem was for anything comparable to Craftsman the deck was always a lot smaller usually 48". I still have the previous garden tractor/mower from 6 years ago - it also is a Craftsman with a Kohler engine. I just knew I was ready for a new one, so I snapped up this deal. If you clean them good after each use, Change the oil and filter regularly, use good gas, put fuel additive in gas prior to storage for the winter, they last a long time.
Go ahead , make all the trips to the mower places with a pad of paper and a pen, you will see which deal is the best.
My son swore by John Deere, but he bought the cheap one from a home center - I even think they are made overseas. He borrowed mine a few times this last summer and was impressed. The better John Deere mowers are good - but be prepared to pay dearly for one.
