Tractor Battery Cables
Is my Garden Tractor Battery Cables corroded, If so how do i fix this?
Recently my cub cadet lt1050 would not start all i heard was humming, i think my battery cables and/or battery may be corroded, there is brown and green stuff on it. why did this happen?do i need new cable and/or battery?how to fix it?How do i prevent this from happenening in the future?

I suspect you have a low battery . But if you can't jump or check it try this---Corrosion is normal unless you do something to protect against it. remove the cables ,neutral first so you don't arc the positive on anything when you remove it. Clean the terminals and connections on the cables with baking soda and a wire brush. Replace the cables and coat the terminals with vaseline. Try it again.. No good? If you have lights turn them on and try to start the tractor. If the lights dim or aren't on...it's the battery...Check the water level...fill with distilled water and add an aspirin Really! It can works as an acid..let it dessolve..still no good? probably the battery is the most likely fault. Wear eye protection and remember the battery has sulfuric acid in and around it so rubber gloves can protect your hands. wash thoroughly after you finish.
