CAN I STILL FARM WITH A FARMALL H?
Hi i am 17 and i am going to get into the cattle business within the next 5 years for a side job approximately 25 to 30 acre piece of property to raise about 15 cattle and the rest use for hay and forge making. i have bought a lot of equipment in the last year so when i get the farm i can get right to work. I have a Farmall A and a H, two 2 bottom trailer plows, 2 manure spreaders, a drag, a 2 row corn planter and a 5 foot bush hog for mowing pastures and making hay and a set of cultivators. i still have to get a hay rake and a baler but everything else i have to get stated. All of my equipment is either refurbished or is in good working condition. i am only doing what i can afford and the equipment i am buying may be old but it still works and its all i can afford right now. can i still use this stuff in a small operation like mentioned above?
Sorry, but what you're considering just isn't sustainable.
You've got way too much equipment, too little land, and too many projects.
With only 25 to 30 acres, you should pick just one crop. Or just raise cows. Pick one of those, then get rid of all that equipment that doesn't apply.
