Lawn Tractor Switch Diagram
How do I find out what color wires go where on my lawn tractor's starter switch?
My Craftsman 19.5hp tractor has messed up wires on the harness. I can't find a color diagram online, or a diagram that will tell me the correct wire placement. I don't want to pay the technician to come out.
Most craftsman lawnmowers have Briggs and stratton engines. Go to the B&G site. See if you can download what you're looking for. These things are wired pretty simply. Generally speaking, Red is hot and black is not.
In a DC current system red is your power source. Black is your ground. If it's a black wire, it probably goes to ground. If it's a red wire it probably can be traced back to the battery and to the coil pickup wire. Actually, for some odd reason, at least on older engines, the coil pickup wire tends to be black. Ignore this. It is a live wire.
Whatever you download from b&g, just remember, red is hot and black is not.
