Yes there are fuel additives that I have found that help. If you can get gas without ethanol use it, you will have fewer engine issues.
The ethanol in gasoline collects water when you have an open gas systems typical to small engines, boats, snowmobiles etc. The ethanol gas can hold the water up to a point and then you have a separation which causes engine issues. If your gas tank sets with at partially full for an extended period of time there is more gas surface available to be in contact with the humidity in the air and that can cause you to have more water issues. Keep the tank full to minimize the water collection.
There are a number of products that advertise they help. I have used Sta-Bil, it seem to have helped and also extends the freshness of the gas. The gas can set for months and still maintain it's freshness. I now use Sta-Bil and keep my tanks full at all times in all my small engine and snowmobile gas.
(I had a $700.00 + repair bill on a snowmobile engine caused by water when I started reading up on the negative effects of ethanol. Also for what it's worth, we pay the same amount for a gallon of gas with 10% ethanol as gas without ethanol and get 10% less in fuel mileage per gallon, plus having the water collection issues. It's just great that we get to pay for this progress.)
