What is the correct way to engage PTO on a Ford 1100 -1110 tractor w a brushhog??
steps to take so I do not damage PTO
first you have to decide on the appropriate gear that you feel the most comfortable driving at around 1800 to 2000 RPM --keep your foot on clutch engage PTO lever then slowly release the clutch and increase the RPM to the appropriate level when you want to stop the PTO just put in the clutch and disengage the PTO lever (no need to decrease RPM's) but you might have to decrease RPMs to re-engage PTO again--- the minimum RPM to engage PTO is at 1000 RPM , not at idle it will kill the(bogging down) engine with a load already on it --bogging down the engine will cause premature wear and tear on it which leads to shorter life
edit:you have to depress in the clutch before shifting into the gears and/or PTO otherwise it will make a grinding noise if you try to engage it without the clutch and another point do not try to engage the pto while the tractor is moving(like if you are driving then u depress the clutch and try to engage the PTO without stopping it will make a grinding noise)
