95' Ford Escort (1.8 L.) Shift Problems?
So i have a 95 escort GT and was wondering if anyone else has had the problem that i do currently. My shifter (manual trans) is very sloppy , like when i throw it into gear i can still move it all around, the car drives just fine and shifts ok, its just there's a LOT of play in the gears and even in the neutral position (side to side it moves rather far apart). If anyone else has an escort from 91' to 96 with manual trans and has had this problem could you help me out??? I'm thinking its the extension bar worn out or possibly the insulator/pad that the shift boot sits on.
ANY IDEAS?!?!?!?!
sound like shifter bushings are worn out if it is going into gears smoothly would not worry to much about it having the bushings replaced should resolve your trouble
