Facts About Asbestos
Asbestos is a kind of a substance that is commonly found in the earth. There is a certain minimal concentration of it in the air that is not hazardous to the human health. Because of some historical developments that led to momentous and significant changes in the lives of the whole world, this substance is already being in several common products, especially in products for insulation and other fire-proofing materials.
The Asbestos and its other varieties of asbestiform are defined in the Toxic Substance Control Act of the United State of America (USA). These are defined into six (6) different types or varieties and further categorized into two (2): Serpentine, which is with curly fibres and layered form, and the Amphibole, which is with a chain-like structure and straight fibres.
The first category Serpentine has only one member, which is the Chrysotile. The Chrysotile is often times a green or white substance that is commonly being used in materials for insulation or products used for fireproofing.
On the other hand, the second category Amphibole consist the five (5) remaining types or verities of asbestos. These are Amosite, Crocidolite, Anthophyllite, Actinolite and Tremolite. The Amosite and Crocidolite are the only members of this category consistently being used for commercial purposes. These two types possess strong, high concentration and stiff fibres, which make them highly hazardous when the airborne fibres were ingested or inhaled.
On the other hand, How to Test for Asbestos? The Amphibole is the second category of asbestos that is with a structure like a chain with straight fibres. This category is composed of five (5) asbestos types. These asbestos types are the Crocidolite, Amosite, Tremolite
The asbestos substance has been historically utilized in several garments like tablecloths of Persian elites. Fast-forwarding during the Industrial Revolution, this substance has been used as insulation in Canada and USA. Today, it is widely being used in the manufacture of ammonium sulphate for the rice productions and also in construction activities, mining and other industries, especially in Japan and Australia since after the World War II and hence many are effected with Asbestos Exposure.
Damaged products that contain asbestos can be dangerous. Hire a professional asbestos inspector and then an abatement contractor to deal with these toxic products.
If asbestos containing materials get damaged or repaired, asbestos fibers can become airborne. These microscopic particles can cause significant health problems like lung disease, asbestosis, or mesothelioma.
Some of the health illnesses that can be due to Asbestos Exposure are mesothelioma, asbestosis and other lung diseases.
