What is an antique?
Knowing what defines an antique is important but can also be difficult to answer.
First of all, antiques should have some historical or cultural significance.

- Beauty is sometimes in the eye of the beholder and often times an antiques value is simply based on how much someone likes it. Buying antiques is not just about finding a way to make money and if an items catches your eye that it might be worth getting.
- Cost of an antique is another important factor.| You need to also be cautious about antique prices. Normally you do not negotiate an antiques price. | Antique prices are often non-negotiable. You need to know the estimated actual value of an item prior to purchasing it so that you don't pay too much. Also, Make sure sure you don't fall for a forgery, fake, or reproduction. If the price seems to low for the value that you're getting you may want to do some additional research.
